Jones Road Ranch is a working ranch located near New Waverly Texas. The ranch currently offers pasture boarding and produces Tuscan Blue rosemary, noted for its aromatic oil and sought after for both its culinary use and as an essential oil. Services we offer and crops we produce

Ranch collageJones Road Ranch is a working ranch focused on doing a few things and doing them right. Currently our focus is crop production and equine & cattle operations.

Pasture Boarding

Pasture boarding is offered on ranch pastures with abundant, lush year round forage including Bahia and other warm season forage and annual rye grass for winter forage. High quality hay produced on the ranch is used to supplement cold season pasture forage as needed.

Crop Production

Tuscan Blue Rosemary production was established in the spring of 2017 with in initial pilot crop. Plans are underway to supply fresh rosemary to local grocers and restaurants as well as retail to area farmer markets.

​Boarding

The ranch offers unmatched value for equine pasture boarding. Lush year-round pasture, a 125x325 western riding arena, a 75x150 riding arena and a 60x6H round pen for training are available. Boarders will be comfortable as well relaxing in our inside lounge area or the outside porch. We are located less than 15 minutes from over 100 miles of equestrain trails in the Sam Houston National Forest on either side of IH45. Jones Road Ranch offers an unmatched value for boarding in the greater Houston Texas area.

Events

If you are looking for a beautiful outdoor setting for your wedding or next company party or family reunion, the ranch is available for hosting events. Facilities make for a fun and inviting environment including large covered spaces in our main horse barn which can be converted to a large 25 x 80 space for parties. The wide-open spaces on the ranch provide opportunities for games and adventures alike for younger members of your party. Add the beauty of the ranch horses, cattle and crops and the ranch makes an ideal setting for family and company events.

Event Facilities

Event facilities and amenities include:

  • Boarders lounge. 15x30 indoor space and 15x30 outdoor covered porch.
  • Western themed barn alley. 25x80 alley suitable for dining, dance and socializing. Can be decorated and configured to suit purpose.
  • Acres of open pasture and wooded areas. Great for hosting children's games and adventure-themed activities.
  • Working ranch livestock and crops. Tours and demonstrations can be arranged for event guests.
  • Catering and event services. Large gathering tents on the lawn and catered meals as available. 
  • Riding arena and round pens. If your hosting a western event and horses are involved, we offer both 125x325 and 75x150 riding arenas for western riding.
  • Fire pit. Great for evening and night time socializing.
  • Ample parking

Jones Road Ranch has great facilities to meet the needs of horses and their owners.

Equine-related facilities

  • Pasture with rich warm and cool weather forage. Horses are rotated to maintain the pastures in top conditions. 
  • Horse-safe fencing. No-climb horse fence, wood posts, top site-boards, no barbed wire on horse pastures.
  • Individual pasture. Horses are boarded on individual paddocks.
  • Large arena. 125 x 325 riding arena for western riding and event training.
  • Discounts. 15% discount for students and for second and subsequent boarded horses.
  • Trailer parking. Trailer parking available for boarders. Free trailer parking for two or more horses boarded.
  • Loafing shed. 30 x 90 loafing shed for rough weather cover.
  • Second arena. 75 x150 riding arena.
  • Round pen. 60 ft x 6 ft high round pen for training.
  • Horse wash. Lighted and covered.
  • Boarders lounge. 15x30 indoor lounge with wood stove and A/C. Outdoor 15x30 covered porch.
  • Horseman's cottage. Period cottage coming in 2018. One weekend included with each annual boarding contract. Available for rent.
  • Large stalls. Although the ranch is currently offering only pasture board, we are equipped with 23 large stalls in two barns which may be available in the future.

Crops

  • Tuscan Blue Rosemary. Prized aromatic variety used in both culinary and essential oil applications.
  • Raised beds with drip tape watering. Precise moisture control for moisture-sensitive.
  • Commercial production. Crop under development and expected to produce over 80,000 ounces of green product per year beginning in 2018-19.

Cattle-related facilities

  • Lush back pastures with stock tanks.
  • 5 strand barbed-wire fencing.
  • Loafing shed for rough weather cover.

Meet our ranch owners. Both Terry and Alma live on the ranch full-time and personally work on all aspects of the ranch operation. 

Alma

Alma was born in West Texas and grew up on the Texas Gulf Coast. She enjoys gardening and crafts when not busy on the ranch. Alma has worked in oil and gas services and engineering and construction for 15 years after receiving her master's degree in Computer Science in 2006.

 

​Terry 

Terry was born and raised in rural southeast Missouri. He has been calling Texas home since 1980 when he came to Texas to work for Dow Chemical. Terry grew up hunting, fishing and enjoying the great outdoors. He was raised around family farms within the immediate family and close friends. He was excited to get back to a rural lifestyle in Walker county in 2015.

Terry is out of a long career in the oil and gas and manufacturing industries. He has been an independent consultant working with ExxonMobil, Wells Fargo, Halliburton and other companies.
